Nonna: Why did you install missile launchers, it is impractical in tankery.
Katyusha: Nonsense! It makes our tank taller than our foes!
It is Katyusha and Nonna from Girls und Panzer, on an 'experimental tank'. With this tank, Katyusha will never fear Kuromorimine's Maus : D
I had an idea that since Katyusha has a Napoleon complex (being short and wanting to crush her enemies and such), would it fitting if Katyusha used the Soviet 'Mammoth/ Apocalypse tank' from the Command and Conquer series. (specifically Red Alert I ).
It was difficult to design the 'mammoth tank' from scratch (since I want it to look like something that would have come right after or in the late years of WWII, rather than the 'cold war' design of the original tank), but I decided to use the turret of an IS-2 (but make it wider and add the extra cannon), the chassis of the IS-3 ( and make the turret more centered) and the 'track flaps' akin to the KV series... You can tell I've played a certain game too much if I know these tanks ><'
After drawing this tank... I just realized how impractical this tank is xD... It is tinier than I expected and it can barely hold 20 rounds.
I have spent a lot of time coloring the tank. I had to recolor the tank like three times to get it what it is now.
The trees were supposed to be apple trees.... blooming o'er the river... where Katyusha stands (barely)
Ironically, I spent all the time illustrating the background and tank and made the characters secondary.
done most of the illustration on paint tool sai, used custom brushes in photoshop elements.

This tank might be able to take out the Maus tank of Black Forest Peak. I just hope that its armour can withstand a shot from a Maus tank.....
